Logistics Integrated Product Design under Concurrent Engineering Environment - A Case Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Logistics, transportation and distribution engineering can be divided into internal or in-plant logistics and external manufacturing or distribution logistics. The Internal or in-plant logistics includes the material handling systems and storage systems and the external manufacturing or distribution logistics includes the transportation modes such as trains and trucks. Both must be integrated into the overall operations using a systems approach that minimizes costs at a competitive level of service. For example, plant layout and production planning must consider internal logistics. The design decisions are made in the early phases of product design and development will have a significant effect over future manufacturing and logistical activities. In this paper, a methodology is developed and presented for decomposition of the logistics design process to analyze the effectiveness of the system and minimize design cycle time of any manufacturing firms including their suppliers. A Complex Design of the Integrated Forward-Reverse Logistics Network under Uncertainty
Design of a logistics network in proper way provides a proper platform for efficient and effective supply chain management. This paper studies a multi-period, multi echelon and multi-product integrated forward-reverse logistics network under uncertainty. First, an efficient complex mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model by considering some real-world assumptions is developed for the inte...

Concurrent Engineering has always been an important ®eld within military industry and is gaining recognition within commercial industry as well. Studies have suggested that long-range research eorts need to be directed to the area of integrated logistics. In order to satisfy the overall logistics objectives, product designs must incorporate consideration of the impact that design decisions hav...
متن کاملDesign for Logistics in Set-based Concurrent Engineering Environment
Design for Logistics (DFL) and Set-based Concurrent Engineering (SBCE) are two conventionally separated methodologies for product design. The former intends to design products by taking into consideration the logistics system that the product needs to fit in, whereas the latter explores a set of design alternatives to converge on a final specification for both product and processes. Within the ...
متن کاملConsidering chain to chain competition in forward and reverse logistics of a dynamic and integrated supply chain network design problem
In this paper, a bi-objective model is presented for dynamic and integrated network design of a new entrant competitive closed-loop supply chain. To consider dynamism and integration in the network design problem, multiple long-term periods are regarded during planning horizon, so that each long-term period includes several short-term periods. Furthermore, a chain to chain competition between t...
